Movement, Epithets and Expectations

  • Movement – Location
    • Brought to the Lord (4:3-4) → In the field (4:8) → Driven out from the land and presence of the LORD (4:14, 16).
    • Movement is away from the presence of the LORD.
  • Movement – Cayin’s Emotion
    • Joy/Gratitude (Offering – 4:3) → Sadness/Anger (4:5b)→ Wrath (4:8) → Fear (4:13)
  • Expectations – (4:3) Cayin would have expected his offering to have been respected.
  • Expectations – (4:6) God expected Cayin to understand why his offering was not respected.
