Perspective, Coherence, Gaps, Foretelling and Double Causality
- Perspective – (4:23-24) Lamech’s perspective is the only noticeable character perspective.
- Gaps – (4:23-24) Lot of missing information in this murder scene. Who was the young man? Why would Lamech need protection? Was there a purpose in announcing the curse to his wives?
- Coherence – (4:20-22) The relevance of each son’s trade is not made known. Especially, the trades which are unrelated to the names, Jabal and Jubal.
- Coherence – (4:17) The seemingly disconnected fact of the city being named after his son, somewhat clarified only in the structural parallel.
